It was even there when deuter revolutionized the backpack market in 1984 with the introduction of the Aircomfort back system, the first fully-ventilated back panel on a hiking backpack, which has subsequently been copied countless times. The classic look reminds us of the good old days, but with modern functions.

Woven from 600 denier polyester yarn and with a thick PU coating, this tear resistant and light fabric is highly versatile. Whenever it’s about keeping the weight of the backpack as low as possible with moderate stress, then this is the ideal solution. The “deuter Super Polytex BS” version is produced in compliance with the stringent bluesign® standard. Its features and stress factors are identical.
- > D stands for Denier – a unit of measurement for yarn weight. 600D means that 9,000 meters of yarn weigh 600 grams. The higher the value, the more robust (and often heavier) the material.
- > PES stands for Polyester. Polyester fibers are highly tear- and abrasion-resistant, easy to care for, and absorb very little moisture.
- > PA stands for Polyamide (also known as nylon). Polyamide fibers are especially durable, elastic, and lightweight – ideal for textiles subject to high stress.
- > REC stands for Recycled – the material is made entirely or partially from recycled resources.
- > BS stands for bluesign®-certified – the material has been produced in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way according to the bluesign® standard.
