140D REC PA RS

  • > D stands for Denier – a unit of measurement for yarn weight. 600D means that 9,000 meters of yarn weigh 600 grams. The higher the value, the more robust (and often heavier) the material.
  • > PES stands for Polyester. Polyester fibers are highly tear- and abrasion-resistant, easy to care for, and absorb very little moisture.
  • > PA stands for Polyamide (also known as nylon). Polyamide fibers are especially durable, elastic, and lightweight – ideal for textiles subject to high stress.
  • > REC stands for Recycled – the material is made entirely or partially from recycled resources.
  • > BS stands for bluesign®-certified – the material has been produced in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way according to the bluesign® standard.

Made without intentionally added PFAS

PFAS, sometimes also referred to as PFCs, have been used in outdoor textile finishes for their water-, dirt-, and greaserepellent properties. Many PFAS are highly persistent and can accumulate in the  environment over time.

Since 2020, deuter has used DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finishes without intentionally added PFAS. These finishes are selected in line with deuter’s chemical management requirements and applicable product safety standards.

Learn more about how deuter addresses PFAS and other chemicals of concern here.

Tried on both Speed Lite 13’s at a store and unfortunately Deuter somehow made it worse in the latest iteration, less comfortable (at the top of the backpack felt like something was slightly sticking into my back when the backpack was not full), less functional (the sternum strap mechanism, the zipper pullers are way better on last year’s version), heavier and I personally think less pretty. I went with Speed Lite 13 from last year and couldn’t be more happy with it so far Tried on both Speed Lite 13’s at a store and unfortunately Deuter somehow made it worse in the latest iteration, less comfortable (at the top of the backpack felt like something was slightly sticking into my back when the backpack was not full), less functional (the sternum strap mechanism, the zipper pullers are way better on last year’s version), heavier and I personally think less pretty. This is my go-to pack for a lightweight, compact setup. It carries exactly what I need without feeling bulky and is very comfortable to use. My only real wish is for better internal organisation—an additional pocket or two internally would make it even more practical. A side phone pocket would also be a great addition for quick access on the move, which appears in other deuter models. This is my go-to pack for a lightweight, compact setup.
